Check with the city. Waxahachie handles sheds under its Residential Accessory Structure permit, applied for through the city's CSS portal. We couldn't find any size at which a small shed is exempt, so confirm with Building & Community Services.
What to know
- Accessory structures must be at least 5 feet from side property lines.
- Sheds over 500 sq ft need engineered, sealed foundation plans.
- Asphalt shingles are only allowed on roof slopes of 2:12 or steeper.

- Waxahachie enforces the 2021 International Codes and the 2020 National Electrical Code with local amendments. Allow at least 10 business days for residential plan review.
